4 Nations Cup Directly Attributes to Significant Increase in November 2014 Accommodation Tax Revenues over Same Month in 2013

March 5, 2015, Kamloops, BC: Hosting prominent city-wide events directly affects accommodation tax revenues.  This is certainly the case as Kamloops played host to the 4 Nations Cup Women’s World Championship from November 4 – 8, 2014.  As a result of the event’s successful attendance, Tourism Kamloops is reporting a 34% increase in accommodation tax revenues for November 2014 in comparison to the same month in 2013.

“This accommodation tax revenue increase can be attributed to the City of Kamloops’ successful bid to host the 2014 Four Nations Cup, a world-class women’s hockey championship.  Kamloops can certainly be proud of hosting this exceptional international sporting event”, notes Katie Bahnsen, Chair.  “The 4 Nations Cup showcased Kamloops’ outstanding sport venues and attracted visitors to the city in a month where tourism visits are not at peak levels.”

In addition to this championship, Kamloops Minor Hockey hosted a forty-five team female youth hockey tournament welcoming athletes and their families from throughout the Pacific Northwest.

It is due to the partnership, support and vision of many organizations including Hockey Canada, City of Kamloops and Kamloops Minor Hockey as well as the dedicated volunteer base that allows Kamloops to successfully attract and host this calibre of event.
