Vessel @ Kamloops Art Gallery

Stephanie Patsula is a recent graduate from the Thompson Rivers University Fine Arts program. Influenced by post-minimalist approaches and process-based art making, Patsula works with found and constructed objects and explores the relationship to the space in which they are made and displayed. For this project, she investigates the architectural space and ideological context of the white-walled gallery for which The Cube is named. Patsula is interested in the resonance of built environments and their history. The white cube is understood to be a neutral space in which objects can speak for themselves. This exhibition was selected as part of the Curator's Choice by Craig Willms and will be displayed in The Cube along with the Ted Smith and Jack Shadbolt exhibitions.

Animals - Real or Really? @ Kamloops Arts Council's Main Gallery

Laura is a graphic artist/cartoon illustrator who has been creating amusing collage illustrations for the last few years – a very different pursuit from her previous design and illustration that work she had specifically created for the business sector. Alexandra is a sixteen year old honour student who has always enjoyed creating art but has really blossomed under the tutelage of her Art teacher (Mrs. Philippa Glossop) at St. Ann’s Academy. This is a mother/daughter exhibit showcasing two very different styles. Alexandra creates beautiful realistic pencil sketches of animals in the wild. Laura creates ‘wild’ cartoon collages of animals that are anything but realistic.
