Competitive fly fishers from across North America and around the World are invited to attend this international loch-style fly fishing competition/event. This is the 22nd year as the BC Interior's longest running Ultramarathon. Nick Jordan founded the first WALK IN THE PARK in 1992 with a race philosophy of putting on a well organized, low-cost & low-key event, a tradition that continues today. From 1992 to 2000, the WITP took place in the hills around Juniper Park, to the East of Downtown Kamloops. In 2001 the event moved to Kenna Cartwright Park where an 18.2km permanent loop course has now been established. The start/finish will be at the primary upper entrance to Kenna Cartwright Park. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Switzerland, and now a long time Canadian resident of Toronto, Shakura S’Aida is a truly international artist. She has enriched the jazz, blues and classic R & B communities with her soulful voice, enthusiastic personality and commitment to her deep soul music. 2013 started with nominations for four different national and international blues awards including a JUNO nomination for Best Blues Album of the Year. You can hear her this summer at the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival. Shakura’s new symphony show featuring her own originals along with the music of Etta James, Billie Holliday and Nina Simone. She tours Canada in 2014 with one of her first stops right here in Kamloops.
