Blues Caravan @ the Blue Grotto
Blues Caravan performs live starting at 8:00pm. Tickets are available at Lees Music, Long & McQuade and at the Door!! Toronto's JIMMY BOWSKILL returns to this theatre during their blistering five-month northern hemisphere tour of Blues Caravan: Tomorrow's Guitar Heroes by Germany's Ruff Records. Already a local legend after his teenage performance at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, Jimmy's reputation was established at age eleven when discovered by prominent bluesman Jeff Healey, and later by Stuart McLean on CBC's Vinyl Cafe. Starting as a traditional R&B stylist, he's moved progressively toward classic rock, supporting acts like Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and Wishbone Ash. But he no longer rides on anyone's coat-tails: "The music I make now has a more rocking sound than the more traditional stuff. But to me it's just my take on the blues," explains Bowskill, "I'm in my early 20s and full of energy, so of course my music will have a different edge to it." Also soloing is the UK's JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR (lead guitar for Annie Lennox at the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II.) and USA's BART WALKER (Best Guitarist at the 2012 International Blues Challenge). Their kick-ass rhythm section is Drummer Denis Palatin (driving the Caravan for years), joined in the engine room by bassist Ian McKeown from the Bowskill Band. This is Jim Elderton's seventh charity-based stage show, a fundraiser hosted by Vernon's Teen Junction Youth Centre. http://bluescaravan.com/index.php/en/
