Jayce Salloum: history of the present {selected work 1988-2009} is the first comprehensive survey of Canadian artist Jayce Salloum’s extensive body of photo-based, conceptual, and installation work that spans the better part of three decades. In recognition of Salloum’s stature as one of Canada’s most internationally engaged and widely cited contemporary artists, this project draws on over two decades of production and includes room-scale installations, photographic and photo-based series, archival material, collaborative artwork, and a large-scale, multi-panel wall “drawing” that has never before been exhibited. The exhibition will also include new collaborative paintings made with local First Nations youth and a cd release of their spoken word and hip-hop tunes made during the three years of workshops. |
