Kamloops Heritage Railway's Steam Train

Spirit of Kamloops

2141 Steam Train
Climb aboard the beautifully restored 2141 'Spirit of Kamloops' and steam back into history. In the late spring and summer, take a one-hour tour departing from a 1927 restored CN station and cross the South Thompson River on a steel trestle bridge. You will travel to First Nations lands and past St. Joseph's Church, a historic site, before crossing Paul Creek on the way to the CN Junction. On our return trip there are many photo opportunities including Mount Paul and Mount Peter, sunset at the church, and on the trestle bridge once more. Experience railroading of old as we pick up a message using the old-fashioned hoop transfer method and are warned of masked riders seen in the area. One hundred years ago in 1906, the gentleman bandit Bill Miner and his gang robbed a train just outside of Kamloops and his ghost returns for a reenactment of the event on every trip!

Ghost Train

On a dark and stormy Halloween night in 1915, a train carrying 44 passengers and crew left Kamloops Junction destined for the town of Blue River. The train disappeared into a thick fog while passing through Wolfenden and never reappeared. Many have searched, but none have been able to find any trace of the train, the crew, or the passengers... Since the restoration of the 2141 steam locomotive, strange events have taken place around the time of Halloween. Have the spirits been resurrected? Join them on the 1-hour long Ghost Train as they tell their story and settle their restless souls. Reservations are required as these trips have sold out year after year.

Spirit of Christmas Train

Spirit of Christmas Train
Journey back to a Christmas of old with carolers, hot chocolate, the 2141 steam locomotive and heritage train as they visit historic St. Joseph's church to bring Santa Claus back into town. Decorated with hundreds of colourful lights, join Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, Frosty the Snowman, a Winter Princess, Tin Soldier and even the Grinch as they warm the hearts and spirits at Christmas. This 1-hour long Spirit of Christmas railtour has become a local favourite since 2003. Reservations are required for assigned seating.
