Kamloops Railway Days - Saturday, September 11th

On Saturday, September 11, 2010 join the Kamloops Heritage Railway Society as they once again showcase an very important part of Canada's heritage. There will be lots going on during the day including equipment displays by the railways, tours of the backshop, model train and memorabilia sales and displays, 2141 train rides, entertainment and a beer garden.

Date and Time: Saturday, September 11, 2010 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm

Spirit of Kamloops

Kamloops Heritage Railway

Kamloops Heritage Railway
Climb aboard the beautifully restored 2141 'Spirit of Kamloops' and steam back into history. In the late spring and summer, take a one-hour tour departing from a 1927 restored CN station and cross the South Thompson River on a steel trestle bridge. You will travel to First Nations lands and past St. Joseph's Church, a historic site, before crossing Paul Creek on the way to the CN Junction. On our return trip there are many photo opportunities including Mount Paul and Mount Peter, sunset at the church, and on the trestle bridge once more. Experience railroading of old as we pick up a message using the old-fashioned hoop transfer method and are warned of masked riders seen in the area. One hundred years ago in 1906, the gentleman bandit Bill Miner and his gang robbed a train just outside of Kamloops and his ghost returns for a reenactment of the event on every trip! TIP: 45 - 50 mins prior to departure, you can come and watch as the engineer builds the train for the trip right out in front of the parking area. Lots of steam action and photo ops!
