Winter Adventure in Kamloops, British Columbia

Things to Do this Winter in Kamloops

Kamloops' vast, wide open landscape provides varied terrain for a multitude of winter adventures. Coupled with bright, sunny skies and dry, light snow on the surrounding mountains, the city is the ultimate destination for winter activities for many reasons.

Not only is Kamloops home to Sun Peaks Resort, Canada’s third-largest ski resort, but is also only 20 minutes from Harper Mountain, a family friendly ski hill with a Tube Park and night skiing. Prefer cross country skiing, an abundance of groomed trails are close by for classic and skate skiing. Talk to the Kamloops Visitor Centre for recommended areas to check out to make some tracks.

Unique Winter Activities

Beyond Skiing & Snowboarding, there are other unique ways to explore Kamloops' winter wonderland.  Snowmobiling in the Kamloops region is world class, with the season often extending from mid-November until late April. The local snowmobile clubs do an excellent job of maintaining and marking trails so it's easy to plan an adventure with your friends.

Some other recommended winter activities are:

Ice Skating

Tubing & Tobogganing

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides

Dog Sledding

Ice Fishing

Celebrate Winter ... Kamloops style

There are many exciting outdoor winter festivals and events that happen annually. Take the family to Wildlights at the BC Wildlife Park and for a ride on the Kamloops Heritage Railway's Spirit of Christmas Train. Go for a stroll downtown where the tree lined streets are lit up to create a festive feeling. Start planning a winter getaway to Kamloops!
