1. Kamloops - Cache Creek
Distance: 82 km (51 mi)
Approximate Time: 55 min
Route: Highway 1
Origin/Destination: Travel west from Kamloops on Highway 1.
Highlights: After 65 kms (40 miles) stop at the McAbee Fossil Beds, where visitors may find a 50 million year old fossil. Once in Cache Creek, check out the Cariboo Jade Shop.
2. Cache Creek - Hat Creek
Distance: 11 kms (7 mi)
Approximate Time: 10 min
Route: Highway 97
Origin/Destination: Turn right on Highway 97 in Cache Creek
Highlights: Refresh at Bonaparte Bend Winery (famous for its fruit wines) and Horstings Farm Market, where visitors can pick up some fresh produce or a mouthwatering fruit pie. Continue on Highway 97 for another 9 kms (6 miles) to Historic Hat Creek Ranch. This is a great place to spend a few hours and go for a stagecoach ride, try panning for gold, and explore a recreated ancient Shuswap village.
3. Hat Creek - Ashcroft
Distance: 20 km (12.5 mi)
Approximate Time: 20 min
Route: Highway 1/Highway 97
Origin/Destination: Drive back south through Cache Creek and travel along Highway 1 until the junction for Highway 97C - turn left.
Highlights. Check out the Ashcroft Museum, which brings the past to life.
4. Ashcroft - Logan Lake
Distance: 58 km (36 mi)
Approximate Time: 45 min
Route: Highway 97C
Origin/Destination: Follow Highway 97C through Ashcroft and up the hill to Logan Lake
Highlights. Check out the Highland Valley Copper Mine or the Logan Lake Visitor Center that is located inside a huge mining shovel that sits next to a 235-ton ore truck.
5. Logan Lake - Kamloops
Distance: 55 km (34 mi)
Approximate Time: 45 min
Route: Meadow Creek Rd / Lac Le Jeune Rd
Origin/Destination: Head northwest out of Logan Lake onto Meadow Creek Road. Follow this road over the highway and towards Lac Le Jeune, continuing on Meadow Creek Road. This will eventually turn into Lac Le Jeune Road. Follow this road all the way to Kamloops.
Highlights. Enjoy a picnic lunch a Lac Le Jeune.
