Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament

 

44th Annual KIBIHT from April 4 - 8, 2012.

 

The world-famous Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament came into being in 1969 when Bud Fraser and Eldon Dever got things started with teams participating from all over North America and Europe. The KIBIHT society was formed and has run the Tournament every year.

The games will be played on the traditional Easter Long Weekend and will host 24 of the top Bantam teams around the world. There is also a Female Division which will be Midget aged girls so as to give them an opportunity to showcase their skills to the many University and College team representatives that have been invited to attend.

Over the last forty years the KIBIHT has not only hosted some of the top Bantam teams in the world but also some of the best Bantam aged players to play the game. In the 1970’s were the likes of Eddie Johnston, Brad Maxwell, Ryan Walter, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri & Mario Lemieux. The 1980’s brought Cliff Ronning, Kevin Hatcher, Mark Recchi, Glen Wesley, Joe Sakic, Rod Brind’Amour, Mike Modano & Adam Foote. The 1990’s had the likes Mike Peca, Brendan Morrison, Darcy Tucker, Sergei Fedorov, Patrick Marleau, Scott Hannan, Mike Comrie & Vincent Lecavalier competing for the Kamloops Cup. The new Millennium brought us Ryan Kesler, Dion Phaneuf, Patrick Kane & Kyle Turris along with 2009 World Junior Gold Medalist Jordan Eberle and Evander Kane.
