Kamloops Youth Soccer Association to Host Provincial A Cup Finals in 2010

The BC Soccer Association has awarded hosting privileges for the 2010 Provincial A Cup Youth Soccer Finals to Kamloops, BC.

The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association will stage the finals at the McArthur Island Sports Complex on the weekend of July 10th & 11th in 2010.

Potentially, there will be 10 games played over the weekend.

The A Cup Finals call for the Interior Champion to meet the Coastal Champion in a 1-game, winner-take-all match, in the Girls U-13, U-14, U-16, U-17 and U-18 and in the Boy U-13, U-14 and U-16 divisions.

The games will only take place if there is a "challenge" from both the coast and the interior. Some years, in some age groups, there has not been a challenge from the interior due to lack of competitive strength in a particular age group.

The BC Soccer Association runs Provincial Cup Competition at two levels: A and B. Teams who win Provincial A Cup titles in the Boys and Girls U-14, U-16 and U-18 divisions qualify to represent BC at the Nationals Club Championships held over the Thanksgiving Weekend in October. This past season, the KYSA Blaze U-16 Girls Rep team qualified for the Nationals in Winnipeg where they finished 7th out of 12 teams.

The 2010 National Club Championships are being held in the following cities:

U-14 ~ Moncton, New Brunswick
U-16 ~ Vaughan, Ontario
U-18 ~ Mount Pearl, Newfoundland

The KYSA had to bid to the host in the 2010 Provincial A Cup Finals. Burnaby and Delta district association had also big to host the finals.
