Kelly Funk of Natural Wonders Photography brings an exciting way to explore Kamloops and the surrounding area, all while dramatically improving photography skills. Kelly, who is a resident of Kamloops, is one of Tourism Kamloops' key photographers and is also the 'Turning Pro' columnist and feature writer for 'Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine'. Kelly is an accomplished wildlife photographer, and you never know what wildlife you might see while out on tour.

April 14th & 15th, 2012 - The Magic of Water

Join Kelly for an in depth look at how to photograph water in its many facets. From the correct aperture and exposure, perfect histograms, balanced composition, simplicity and strength in an image, to what it takes to make water the magical substance it is; you’ll find all the answers. This is a beginner to intermediate workshop catering to DSLR cameras of all brands. Point and shoot cameras are also welcome but are limited in their capacity. May 12th, 2012 - Basic Portraiture

If you’re looking for ways to improve your portrait skills, this is the course for you. Kelly will concentrate on methods and approaches that will help you make your subjects stand out.This 4-hour course focuses on image simplicity, lighting (including pop up flash or speedlights), working with your subject or subjects, depth of field for isolation and composition. 8 participants maximum.

Flowers are abundant during Spring in Kamloops. Let Kelly take you on a photographic journey to capture the essence of this colorful time of year. You’ll learn about the perfect exposure, strong composition and balance, light control, story-telling using depth of field and placement and that simple is most always stronger in your display. June 17th, 2012 - Urban Composition & Story-Telling

During the course of last year, Kelly queried students on their photographic ‘wants’ in the way of workshops. The response was strong for urban work. Kelly will be offering the ‘Dusk and evening urban landscapes’ again but students were looking for a focus on composition. He will not only teach balance, reducing ‘dead space’ but also how to tell a story with your images. Join Kelly for a 4 hour session in and around Kamloops to add another element to your portfolio.

July 15th, 2012 - The Power of Artificial Lighting

Artificial lighting, in most cases on camera flashes or speedlights greatly increase your ability to capture images properly, especially when working with people. In this course I’ll cover how flash can help you with portraiture, both inside and outside, special effects, light ratio balancing and freezing subjects. August 19th, 2012 - Dusk and Evening Urban Landscapes

Cities come alive and night, and there is no better time to create dynamic, exciting and inspiring urban photography. Take in an amazing dusk scene and then move to city center to capture some of the downtown core nuances. Start time to be determined. Second day may be added if there is a high demand for this workshop.

October 6th & 7th, 2012 - Fall Colours and Large Skies

Autumn is an extremely beautiful time of year in the Thompson Okanagan and Kamloops is an area that needs to be photographed and showcased. Kelly will lead you to an area that holds all the elements to allow you to learn what it takes to bring home amazing images. These workshops will take place in Lac du Bois, above Batchelor heights. Last year was extremely popular so we’ve added a second day to accommodate participants both locally and out of town. 8 participants maximum per day.
