| Kamloops, B.C.: The British Columbia Wildlife Park is hosting the 10 week BC Falconry Festival from July 1 to September 4, 2006. Guided by the Park’s mission – ‘The BC Wildlife Park connects people to BC’s wildlife and wild places in order to encourage a sustainable society in a healthy natural environment’ – the festival will feature BC Birds of Prey and emphasize their tremendous natural abilities and behaviors, in the context of conservation education messaging.
More than 15,000 people are expected for three days of fun, food and educational experiences with 1,300 performers, hundreds of competitors, arts and crafts people. Competitors from tribes across Canada and the United States will battle for $62,500.00 of prize money in the dance and drum contests. One of western Canada's largest First Nations heritage events, this gathering of friendship, dance exhibition, singing, drumming, arts and crafts helps to preserve the First Nations’ rich legacy. Kamloopa Powwow tickets are $20 for the weekend or $10 per day. Admission is free to Elders, children under six and the handicapped. Camping is free with weekend admission.
