Tourism Kamloops
Be a Tourist In Your Own Town!
Friday, May 26th, 2006

Kamloops, B.C.: The cost of gas may have some of us sticking a little closer to home – and it’s a great opportunity to join Tourism Kamloops in celebrating Tourism Week from June 5 – 11 right here in Kamloops!

“If people are looking for an adventure getaway, the perfect place is in our very own backyard!” says Kamloops Visitor Info Centre manager Ann Eppinger. “From free gold panning lessons, a trip on the Kamloops Heritage Railways’ 2141 Spirit of Kamloops train with 2 for 1 admission this week, taking a Historical Walking Tour of downtown Kamloops to many more events, the entire family will find enjoyment staying close to home.”

The Kamloops Visitor Centre would like locals to know that the centre isn’t just for the travelers to stop in to get information, but is an abundance of ideas on how to enjoy the city in which we live. “Most people don’t realize all that Kamloops has to offer.” says Eppinger. “Most are aware of the fantastic golf courses, museums & art galleries and our great parks, but a lot of people are surprised when they learn about our incredible areas for rock hounding, mountain biking & hiking trails, horseback riding adventures and other activities. We have all of this information at the Visitor Information Centre to share with anyone who wishes to find out more.”

And technologically, information is even closer at hand by going on line to the Tourism Kamloops website. “We have a wealth of information on things to do in Kamloops, activities to enjoy and an events calendar of the happenings in the area,” says Tourism Kamloops CEO Lee Morris. “We keep the information fresh and up to date to help you plan your next adventure getaway right here in Kamloops. We hope the residents of Kamloops will take advantage of the many events happening for Tourism Week June 5 – 11 and year round.”
