| Kamloops, B.C.: David Letterman, TV host of Late Night with David Letterman, enthused at length on his programme about the beauty of the Kamloops area in a recent interview with celebrity Jennifer Lopez.
The “tremendous beauty of the surrounding countryside” was stunning explains Letterman after viewing An Unfinished Life – a new film featuring Lopez. The production was filmed in the Kamloops area two years ago. Lopez, currently promoting the new release, described the setting as “gorgeous.” Tourism officials in the Kamloops area are delighted with the North America wide coverage. “As residents of Kamloops, we all know that Kamloops truly is a beautiful area and this type of exposure is excellent for our industry,” says Lee Morris, CEO of Tourism Kamloops. “Third party endorsement is a key marketing strategy for our area,” says Christopher Nicolson, President, at Tourism Sun Peaks. “But sometimes, the unexpected happens and you hit the big time like Letterman’s comments. This kind of celebrity endorsement enhances our region’s image and illustrates one of many ways the film and tourism industry benefit our region.” Tourism Kamloops and Tourism Sun Peaks have contacted the producers of the Letterman show with an invitation to Mr. Letterman to visit the Kamloops area for a winter or summer vacation experience.
