Tourism Kamloops Recognized in EDAC Awards
Monday, September 17th, 2007
Kamloops, B.C., - Tourism Kamloops has been awarded the 2007 Marketing Canada Award for Business Development Branding by the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC), as well as Best in Category and Best in Show.

The award presentation took place today at a luncheon during EDAC’s Professional Development Conference being held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Branding award recognizes the efforts of Tourism Kamloops to introduce a recognizable and meaningful brand presence in the marketplace for a community through the use of identification, graphic standards and the development of marketing materials.

“This award reinforces what we have been hearing back from industry.” states Lee Morris, C.E.O. of Tourism Kamloops, “Our brand is effectively gathering attention and to date we are seeing an increase in accommodation revenues over the same period in 2006.”

Development of the new Tourism Kamloops brand followed a proven brand development process. The initial phase involved extensive research with stakeholders in the community, tour operators, meeting planners and tournament organizers. This was followed by consumer research with frequent travelers in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.
