| 'La Diva' presented by the Kamloops Symphony Monday, February 2nd, 2009 |
Love, romance, passion, drama – the great operas have it all – but comedy? The Kamloops
Symphony and comic soprano Natalie Choquette have some fun with opera on Valentine’s Day
weekend. Serious music with some not so serious antics set the stage for two entertaining
performances on Friday and Saturday nights, February 13 & 14, 2009 at 8 pm in Sagebrush Theatre.
Whether you are an established opera fan or newcomer, you probably haven’t seen anything like
this. Opera is definitely not boring with La Diva. Audiences everywhere have been known to break
into applause and laugh uproariously at Natalie Choquette, whether she is singing a Turandot aria
while decked out in hair curlers and slurping spaghetti, breaking out into a Neapolitan song while
hanging laundry on stage, or when she sings Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” refrain while gargling a
mouthful of red wine…without missing a note! Add outrageously gorgeous costumes and let the fun
begin!
