We’re hiring local Visitor Centre Experience ambassadors who are passionate about Kamloops. Do you love to engage with people? Do you have a passion for getting out and exploring our trails and activities? If so, we invite you to apply to join our Visitor Experience team.

Position: Seasonal part-time positions available May – August 5-10 hrs/wk

Visitor Centre Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 8:30am-7:00pm Saturday - Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm

Start Date: Training Days: May 7-11 and May 14-18


Must hold a valid Visitor Information Counselor Training Program certificate or successfully complete the Visitor Information Counselor Training Program provided by Tourism Kamloops upon employment


  • Identify visitor needs and to provide accurate visitor information including advice for transportation, accommodation, attractions, events, and more via mail, phone, email, and in person
  • Promote and sell tourism attractions and services
  • Encourage new and return visits to our community, region, and province
  • Gather and record statistical information related to visitors
  • Review hotel and activity lists and update as necessary
  • Perform other administrative tasks as required (data entry)
  • Conduct surveys at various outdoor event venues
  • Provide visitor information at the Visitor Centre, events and other busy locations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Outgoing, friendly and welcoming
  • Strong knowledge of local and regional attractions, activities and events
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment/take initiative in slow times
  • Resourceful and able to think quickly
  • Cashier experience an asset
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset


  • Must hold a valid Visitor Information Counselor Training Program (VICTP) certificate or successfully complete the Program, provided by Tourism Kamloops upon employment
