Tourism Kamloops is proud to announce they will cover the cost for the first 10 business to complete the Biosphere Adhesion Commitment and cover up to 50% of costs for the next 10 businesses to complete the commitment.

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association in Partnership with Tourism Kamloops will be hosting an information session discussing the recent regional acquisition of the Biosphere Sustainable Tourism Designation and the Biosphere Business Adhesion opportunity!
In November 2017 the Thompson Okanagan Region was the first Destination in The America’s to receive the Biosphere Certification. Biosphere is a Sustainable Tourism System certified by the Responsible Tourism Institute, and international accreditation body affiliated with the World Tourism Organization and is a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
The information session will discuss the steps taken to acquire the designation, what it entails, how we are moving forward, and the next steps for regional businesses to be involved through the Biosphere Adhesion Program.
The Biosphere Adhesion Program is the opportunity for businesses to be active in the biosphere process and be recognized as a ‘Committed Company’, providing opportunities for increased sustainability collaboration and differentiation.
Tourism Kamloops is a strong supporter of the Biosphere Certification and recognizes the benefits of local business adopting their commitment to this initiative:
“Tourism Kamloops has recognized Sustainable and Responsible Development as key strategies embedded into our Strategic Plan Sustainability Platform.  This is important work and it will require all our stakeholders to support and commit to Business Adhesion opportunities”  Beverley DeSantis, CEO Tourism Kamloops
The Thompson Okanagan region is very proud to be recognized as a Biosphere Sustainable Tourism Destination and we are keen to move forward with industry stakeholders as we continue to progress with a sustainable vision for this region.
