Tourism Kamloops Opens New Downtown Visitor Centre
Visitors and locals alike will receive a full visitor centre experience in the heart of our city
For Immediate Release
June 20, 2017, Kamloops, British Columbia – Tourism Kamloops has opened a new downtown visitor centre location to welcome what is expected to be an increased number of guests and visitors this summer.
“We want to make Kamloops as welcoming as possible during our peak season. We partnered with the City of Kamloops and the Kamloops Blazers to create a central gathering space to host visitors that may not otherwise make it up the hill to our primary visitor centre,” says Beverley DeSantis, Tourism Kamloops CEO. “Our downtown riverside location has been designed to make visitors feel at home in the heart of our beautiful city.”
The new location is in the Kamloops Blazers Corner Store at Sandman Centre and it will be open 7 days a week between 5:00PM – 9:00PM for the month of June and then from 1:00PM – 9:00PM during the busy July and August summer season.
“The downtown visitor centre came to life through a partnership between the Rocky Mountaineer, the Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club and the City of Kamloops”, DeSantis explains. “We are all working together to make people’s visit to Kamloops as memorable and fulfilling as possible.”
In addition to receiving information from our knowledgeable team, this location will be a spot from which visitors can bring home a piece of Kamloops by supporting our local artisans as well as purchasing commemorative souvenirs for Canada’s 150th celebration. It is our hope that the downtown location will soon feature a patio atmosphere on the plaza, providing locals and visitors a place to enjoy the space, eat an ice cream, rest and plan their next adventure against the backdrop of a beautiful park and beach. The new location will be marked by flags and sandwich boards, making it easy for everyone to find.
