The Norco Canadian Enduro Series is a laid back, all day mountain bike race where the stages (downhills) are timed and the climbing (uphills) is untimed. The Series originated in 2016 as a branch of the BC Enduro Series to extend races nationwide. Now in its 3rd year, there are 8 planned races making it the largest mountain bike race in Canada.
Here’s what to expect at the Kamloops event at Harper Mountain June 1-2.
Pre-Race Day on June 1
The weekend fun begins on the Saturday before race day. Cookshack Cravings will be at the Harper Lodge serving up dishes such as poutine, tacos, and even a deep-fried Mars Bar for a sweet snack. From 1-4pm, Mostly Mental Shuttles will be offering mountain bikers a shuttle service to try the track the day before the race begins. Pickup is in the lower parking lot on Paul Lake Road.
Saturday evening will include a Grass Dual Slalom fun race where the $100 cash prize will be awarded to the fastest rider. If you aren’t looking to ride but want in on the stoke, you can catch Saturday’s action from the Harper Mountain Day Lodge.
Giving Back to Local Community
Every year, the Series gives back to the Kamloops Performance Cycling Centre who maintains the trails at Harper Mountain. 10% of the race registration fees will go back to the KPCC to help fund the development and maintenance of the trails.
Day of the Race
Catch the race in action on Sunday, June 2. If you are spectating and not racing, don’t hike too far up or down the trail and don’t impede the riders. If you have high energy, are fun loving, and want to be involved, register as a volunteer. This is a great way to get into the mountain bike and enduro racing scene from the sidelines.
