Another family vacay?!? Heck Yes! Both the big kids and the littles can get up to family antics in Kamloops where family fun is calling and the norm, always in order, is on the menu indoors and out.

Fun & Games

Get in the fun zone! Let the kids run wild (figuratively of course!) at Fun & Games where they can test their luck at arcade games and compete to see who can win the most tickets for cool prizes! Disneyland not in the cards this year? Experience the thrilling virtual roller coaster. Also new to Fun & Games is The Lounge, where you can play a round of pool, a ‘micro’ mini golf game, retro arcade games, and foosball - just $10 per hour.

BIG Little Science Centre

Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t throw some learning into the mix. Ever wondered how a magnet works or why your hair stands up with electricity? Feed your curiosity and get hands on with over 140 science stations at the BIG Little Science Centre. Located in downtown Kamloops, visitors of all ages can learn and explore with demonstrators helping answer ‘why does this happen’ or ‘how does this work?’.

Harper Mountain

Ski hill antics vs. anti chore battles. Sounds like an easy choice! Harper Mountain presents ample family fun for antics from all ages - cue cat and mouse down the slopes with Dad. Take in the scenic views from the chairlift then ski down a green or blue run - perfect for beginners or intermediate riders. If the littles aren’t quite ready for the chair, practice on the handle tow and the T-Bar for easier runs. If visiting on a weekend, let the wind blow through your toque hair as you zip down the hill on a tube in the Snow Town Tube Park (no working up a sweat though with the lift ride up). Apres isn’t just for adults. Head into the rustic lodge, grab a hot chocolate and poutine and indulge in a fireside chill sesh. Don’t worry parents… there’s a family recipe for hot wine.

Sleeping In A Big Bed

It’s not only the activities that make it the best trip ever. Sleeping in a big bed with a TV in your room is icing on the cake.

New hotel alert! The Prestige Kamloops Hotel (formerly the Comfort Inn) is now open just across from the Aberdeen Mall. Renovations will soon be complete with an indoor pool, waterslide, hot tub, and a new onsite restaurant - Isagani F2T - opening Spring 2022. The family-friendly farm to table restaurant will feature a rotating menu of locally sourced ingredients, local brews, custom cocktails, and breakfast. Stay tuned for their official release date including a summer patio… après will be calling!

Relax with a river view of the South Thompson River at the Riverland Inn & Suites, just five minutes from downtown. This is one of the only accommodation options where the family can play “I spy” spotting local critters (hello, neighbourhood ducks and beavers!”) along the riverbank from your balcony. Looking to stretch your legs? Go for a stroll along the Rivers Trail – a popular walking trail covering 40km –, just a stone’s throw from the Riverland Inn.

Rooms with a view… sign us up! Minutes from downtown, Ramada Inn offers panoramic views of Kamloops from your bedroom window giving the kids a glimpse into where they can explore next. Bring them back in time at The Columbia Diner where everyone can dine in a retro-themed diner including smash burgers, chicken and waffles, and yes… breakfast all day.

Miguel Valentin Prestige Hotel Kamloops

Pristinely New

New hotel alert! Prestige Hotels and Resorts recently opened their doors to The Prestige Kamloops…

You know you’ve won ‘parents of the year’ when you’ve booked a hotel with a waterslide. The recently renovated Best Western Premier is located minutes from Aberdeen Mall (yup, you can also shop ‘til you drop) and dining hot spots. Start or end the day with a dip in the indoor pool, a slide (or ten) down the waterslide, then warm up with a soak in the hot tub.

Kids can’t start the day without their oatmeal? Book yourself a room with a kitchenette to curb their hanger before they head out the door. The uber centrally located Grandview Motel is a short walk to TRU to take in a Wolfpack game or the newly opened Apex Adventure Park

The Holiday Inn & Suites is located smack dab in the middle of the North Shore and families are an arms length away (okay, a short walk really) from flavour town and adventures galore. Dine at the on-site White Spot Restaurant & Lounge (kids 12 & under eat free) then let them splash around in the heated indoor pool and whirlpool - this oughta tire them out for bed.

Located in downtown Kamloops on Victoria Street, The Thompson Hotel & Conference Centre has added a full family experience to the traditional hotel stay. Wind down before bed by watching a flick on the big screen in the private movie theatre room (hello buttery popcorn goodness) or tire them out with a dip in the indoor pool or a round in the arcade room.
