Pack up the car – it’s time to get out of town and explore Kamloops! And – do us a favour – before you go don’t forget your overnight bag because there is no way you can fit it all in in just a day. Your Fantastic Kamloops Fall Day Trip options are all about taking advantage of golf, food, and wine. Our warm falls and extended summer season mean that we truly are your perfect fall road trip destination.

Nine, Dine, and Wine Option 1

An October Kamloops day trip often means you are trying to take advantage of our long golf season. And if you’re here to golf we know you’ll want to take advantage of our delicious local food scene and beverages along the way.

Start the day with an early breakfast and tee time at The Dunes at Kamloops golf course. The Clubhouse offers a full breakfast menu with specials available on weekends. After you’ve had your fill, head on to the course; with its lush fairways surrounded by wild fescue and wheat grass, you can play 9 (or 18) holes while enjoying the best that nature has to offer at the same time. In the fall you will be in awe of the gorgeous autumn colours.

After your round head over to Privato Vineyard and Winery to sample their chardonnay and pinot noir. Pick up a bottle of your favourite to bring home – or enjoy later. From there continue along Westsyde Road to the McLure Ferry and take the short ferry ride across the scenic North Thompson River. The ferry stops running once the water turns to ice – so fall is the perfect last chance to get this off the summer bucket list. Next head back to town and hit up the Farmers’ Market, pick up some fresh fruit, meats and cheeses and head over to Riverside Park, to enjoy a picnic with all your local treats.

Nine, Dine, and Wine Option 2

Start your day a bit more leisurely. Take a stroll down Victoria Street and make sure you grab a cup of coffee from one of our local cafes.

Head to an early afternoon tee time at Kamloops Golf and Country Club or Rivershore Estates and Golf Links. Enjoy 9 (or 18) holes of unforgettable golf amidst gorgeous fall colours. You will enjoy the game, the panoramic views, and you might even catch a glimpse of wildlife preparing for winter. After the round, head to Harper’s Trail Winery to taste a variety of delicious, high-quality local wine, picking a bottle of your favorite to take along with you. Drive back into Kamloops from the winery along Shuswap Road, taking in the stunning scenery of Kamloops’ vast, rugged landscape and the picturesque South Thompson River.

Finally, enjoy a mouth-watering meal at one of the many local restaurants. If you’re feeling extra adventurous make your own progressive dinner plans and start off with a cocktail and appies, wander down Victoria Street to find your main course, and then decide on a night cap and dessert at a third spot. You’ll be taking full advantage of our food scene and getting to experience three fantastic restaurants in one night!
