Looking for a grape escape? Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to sip on a local wine in the sunshine. Here’s how you can get a taste of Kamloops’ finest wine at our local vineyards and wineries or sit back and relax while one of our professional tour companies takes you on the road to visit our award-winning wineries. Cheers to that!

Taste (and take home) a selection of up to 14 wines all made from grapes grown in the on-site vineyard, including Germanic white wines, French reds, a rose, and sparkling wines. Booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid having to wait, tastings are available at various hours during weekends in May and then daily.

Book a tasting in the barrel room at Privato

Take a trip to the European-inspired cellar for tastings in the Privato Barrel Room, which features exposed rock walls and wood accents. Hoping to top up your tan at the same time as a tasting? Join the Wine Club to enjoy an al fresco flight on the sunny patio. Sample five fan-favourites from the Privato Collection of wines (usually a rose, two whites, and two reds) or try a tasting of Woodward Cider Co’s cider for a different type of tipple. Pick up a picnic basket with plates, cutting boards, and cutlery to enjoy an outdoor feast of meats, cheeses, crackers, chips and dips (including gluten-free and dairy-free options) on the patio. Wine tastings are available 11 am-5 pm, Thursday through Monday (and daily after May 19), for $10 per person (refunded with the purchase of two bottles of wine). Book in advance online, at least 24 hours ahead, walk-ins are also available.

Chow down on charcuterie and wine at Harper’s Trail

Discover the history of Harper’s Trail while being walked through a wine tasting ($5) that includes four wines (from a changing menu of reds and whites). Sip inside or slip outdoors to the walk-up bar if the sun is shining! Feeling a little peckish? Enjoy a seated outdoor tasting experience ($10) in the covered lounge and chow down on Chop N Block goodies from the wine shop, including whole cheeses, olives, pickled items and antipasto, or charcuterie boxes full of local meats and cheeses. Soak up the scenery from this 19+ area or buy a bottle of wine and bring your own picnic to the grassy area where (accompanied) children are allowed. Everything is first come first served,  but groups of six people or more can call the winery (250)-573-5855 to book ahead. Harper's Trail is open during the weekend from 11 am until 5 pm and starting on April 27, Wednesday to Sunday 11 am until 5 pm.

Whether you want a quick taste of Kamloops wine, or to spend an afternoon indulging in al fresco drinking, there’s a local winery waiting to welcome you with a glass (or several) of their finest wines, surrounded by the very vines they are grown on.
