Fly into Kamloops’ North Shore and experience a family-friendly break, full of fun eats and treats, and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to make amazing memories together. Whether your little ones like beaches, brunches, or ball games, here are four itineraries to keep the kids happy in Kamloops.

Explore the shore

Ready for an adventure? Sporty families can make the most of the North Shore by biking the 13 cross-country trails of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands, hiking the iconic Battle Bluff trail, or try taking an e-bike along the Rivers Trail for a lower octane adventure.

Head to Overlander Beach Park if the kids have any gas left in the tank. Four-legged friends are also welcome on this beautiful sandy beach, where you can soak up the sun while enjoying skimboarding, soccer, or a game of beach volleyball.

Indulge in family foodie fun

Relax in the colourful island-inspired Jamaican Kitchen where even picky eaters can find familiar food with a Caribbean twist (such as eggs and jerk chicken) or get adventurous and try the national dish of saltfish and ackee for a different kind of breakfast. Open 8 am-3 pm every day (apart from Mondays), the slice of Jamaican paradise is the ideal place to fill up on brunch or a leisurely lunch with the family al fresco.

After an afternoon of activities, are the kids complaining about being hungry again already? Make a stop at Red Beard Cafe, where the part-pub, part-cafe, part-restaurant has everything from comfort food to craft beer and family-style share plates like satay chicken or cornflake potato croquettes that can be enjoyed by all.

Leave room for a treat

Adults can fuel up with caffeine at 5Bean Brewbar & Cafe to face the day, while youngsters can enjoy steamed milk or a fruit smoothie to start the morning right. Of course, there’s always room for ice cream - at family-run Ice Cream Social you can try a flight of ice cream so there’s no fighting about which flavour to get!

Get active all together

Have your little monsters always got lots of energy to burn off? If you’ve been enjoying the foodie treats and need them to run off some of the sugar high, take the kids– big and small– for a free game of mini-golf on McArthur Island Park (bring your own clubs and balls) or let them get wet and wild at the waterpark at McDonald Park, where you can also spot colourful murals to keep the trendy teens happy.

If the kids are not exhausted yet, get them into a (friendly) competitive spirit at The Fun Factor Fun Centre. Whether it’s a game of laser tag, a round of bumper cars, or hitting up the arcade, everyone will be kept active for hours in a quest to get the most points on their Fun Card.

Whether your family loves eating together or beating each other in a friendly game, there’s a day out on Kamloops’ North Shore to keep the kids (and adults) happy.
