The last week of July marked the launch of our Consortium Campaign - a joint initiative between Tourism Kamloops, Tourism Sun Peaks, Shuswap Tourism and Destination BC. The Consortium partnered with Destination Think to build the campaign. The goal of the campaign was to drive visitation to the region for longer stays by focusing on three activities or niche experiences that are common to all three communities.
After extensive online research we determined that the strongest tourism draws shared by all three destinations were biking, hiking and stand up paddle boarding (SUP). Destination Think crafted nine blogs with an emphasis on User Generated Content (UGC) to highlight these activities. Each DMO also identified 2 or 3 operators that specialized in a particular activity to help complete the visitor experience.
The first 6 blogs currently reside on the three DMO web sites – 2 on each site. A targeted facebook ad campaign drives a focused demographic to the blogs. Retargeted ads drive traffic to both the additional blogs and operator websites for fulfillment.
The campaign has proven a huge success right out of the gate. The first facebook ads were placed on the three DMO facebook pages on July 28th sending traffic to the following blogs:
The following results were achieved after just three days of campaigning on the Kamloops Page alone!
- 59,010 impressions
- 40,790 people reached
- 338 likes, comments and shares
- 997 link clicks
A total of nine ads were run across the Kamloops, Shuswap, and Sun Peaks pages in this time frame offering even greater combined stats and some fantastic cross promotional activity. The campaign runs through October.
