Kamloops to host 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championships

Kamloops, BC: International Women’s Ice Hockey will grace the ice surfaces in Kamloops in April 2016.  Today’s announcement by Hockey Canada was a welcome addition to the roster of notable sport events hosted in the city.  The world championship will be the second major international women’s hockey event to be held in Kamloops in a span of 18 months; the city will welcome Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States for the 2014 4 Nations Cup from November 4th to 8th

“Through strong partnerships with the City of Kamloops, their Tournament Capital of Canada branding, Hockey Canada and the local community, Tourism Kamloops looks forward to assisting in an exceptional sport event experience for visitors, athletes and coaches and their families,” noted Lee Morris, CEO.  “The tournament will also offer great benefit to tourism in the City in a normally off-peak season.  We look forward to welcoming this high-profile event.”
