In a new era of foodies, vegan cuisine is taking a leap in popularity. In an effort to seek out who is doing vegan right in Kamloops, I have tasted, researched, and perused to identify these six spots for a vegan flavours tour.

ahhYAY Wellness Cafe

Like a kid in a candy store, I am filled with anticipation every time I see the new menu and treat display at ahhYAY Wellness Cafe. One of my favourite dishes is their popular walnut taco salad with cashew dressing - delish! Soft serve coconut ice cream with a side of raw brownie - yes please. For a caffeine kick, I am a big fan of their signature lattes. In the fall and winter, I love to warm up and (bonus!) reduce inflammation with a Turmeric Soy Latte.

Located below the hospital on Columbia Street, ahhYAY is a fresh, modern space was designed to inspire health. Their menu changes regularly, but always yields ample nutrition close to home. Ready to take it a step further? Check out one of their nutrition classes, personalized meal plans, or home delivery.

Jacob's Noodle & Cutlet

The trendy design and open concept at Jacob's Noodle & Cutlet sets the stage for inviting conversation. I love their location in downtown Kamloops, the friendly staff, and new flavours on the menu including vegan options such as the Tofu Bibimbab. Jacob's is a great place to visit for a power lunch.

Tiger Ramen

Tiger Ramen is a Japanese noodle spot that offers fresh menu items and limited seating due to the in-house ramen maker that takes up significant real estate, but ensuring top quality eats. Enjoy vegan options such as the Vegan Curry Ramen and Red Spicy where broth is simmered for hours and vegetables are cut to precision. Be sure to arrive early and thank the master and staff for the meal before you leave: “Gochi-sou-sama deshita”.

Earls Kitchen + Bar Kamloops

With Veganism on the rise, Earls Kitchen + Bar took the lead and devoted a plant-based section to the menu – Kudos! They went above and beyond the beyond burger and added vegan ranch dip, buffalo cauliflower, a crispy tofu zen bowl, and the avocado power bowl with crispy chickpeas. This is my go-to girl’s night spot.

Casa Azul Kamloops

House made enchilada sauce, green chili sauce, nachos, and sizzling fajitas galore. Casa Azul Kamloops is Mexican hot spot in downtown Kamloops that's packed with personality from the bright coloured walls, paintings and flags, to the personalized themed parties. Add in one of their tasty margaritas and feel like you're beachside in Mexico! While menu options are generally not vegan, upon request the team can prepare veggie enchiladas, veggie tacos, and veggie chimichangas.

Panago Pizza

Perhaps your day has been jam packed with activities and you just want to curl up in your hotel room with pizza and Netflix. No problem. The vegan chicken revolution is here and Panago delivered first with vegan menu items. Indulge in Gardein Breaded Tenders with Sweet Mustard Dip (yes, both vegan!) or a plant-based pizza. Plant-based pizza toppings include plant-based sausage, pepperoni, and dairy-free Daiya cheese. Gluten-smart crust is also available and you can pre-order your delivery in advance.

There are plenty of additional Kamloops eateries that offer vegan or vegetearian options. Please check in with the businesses directly to find out more.
