Tourism Kamloops’ “Stand In” Campaign…Get away from your everyday!
Kamloops, BC: “Everyone wants a “Stand In” to take their place. At tax time. Rush hour traffic. During a dentist appointment. Get away from your everyday – get away to Kamloops!” On May 28th, Tourism Kamloops will launch their summer consumer “Stand In” campaign.
“We’re excited to be launching our summer “Stand In” campaign featuring TV Personality, Meteorologist and Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga,” said Tourism Kamloops’ CEO Ms. Lee Morris. “The campaign will kick off province wide on GlobalTV BC with two commercials– one highlighting Mark Madryga and his family taking in Kamloops’ family friendly recreational activities, the second showcasing grandparents and their grandchildren experiencing many of the local attractions.”
The campaign will drive consumers to www.tourismkamloops.com for more information on vacation ideas and experiences in Kamloops. An online social media strategy will commence utilizing E-blasts, Facebook, and Twitter all housed on a unique microsite – www.standin.ca. Two contest components have been added - one inviting people to tweet #standin to win a selection of prizes. As more tweets are received, more prizes are unlocked. The second, located on the Tourism Kamloops website, features a Kamloops getaway package including local attractions and activities as well as your very own life-sized “Stand In” cut out.
“We see this generating a lot of buzz,” says Ms. Morris. “The key benefit for us will be people visiting the websites to enter the contests, and then while they’re there, further explore how great our city is for a vacation.”
The “Stand In” campaign concept focuses on getting people out of mundane everyday situations and allows their stand in’s to take their place while they are engaging in fun activities in Kamloops.
