Sip a seasonal brew and get in the holiday spirit at one of Kamloops' 5 craft breweries, where you’ll find winter beverages to warm your heart and bring a festive flavour to the colder months.
Noble Pig Brewhouse
This December, The Noble Pig Brewhouse has a range of seasonal holiday infused beers. Chocomint is a mocha porter infused with chocolate and mint, as a refreshing "winterization" of their flagship Stone House mocha porter, adding a holiday blast of peppermint and pure cacao (5.5% ABV, 22 IBUs). Mulled Swine takes the crowd favourite Stick House Belgian Pepper Ale and infuses it with seasonal spices for a festive mulled flavour (5.0% ABV, 20 IBUs). Both are available on tap and in 650ml Bombers for off-sales at The Noble Pig Brewhouse.
Iron Road Brewing
Back again for winter 2020 is the Grab Iron Kölsch (4.5% ABV, 30 IBU) and its wintery cousin, the High Rail Altbier (5% ABV, 30 IBU), which is a malt-forward German ale. Iron Road Brewing will also have their East India Porter (6% ABV, 60 IBU) back on-tap and will be bottling their Barrel Aged Northern King Imperial Stout soon (9%). Look out for an ESB (English Special Bitter) coming soon too.
Bright Eye Brewing
Pick up pre-wrapped glassware gift packs for the holiday season and try the new Fedor Russian Imperial Milk Stout (10.0% ABV, 40 IBU) at Bright Eye Brewing. The team’s yearly traditional brew as homebrewers has now made its way to the brewery. This winter sipper is saturated with notes of rich dark chocolate, coffee, and caramel to help keep you warm on a chilly night. Bright Eye will be tapping a few casks of this winter warmer that have been conditioned further with tasty ingredients, such as espresso beans, cacao nibs, and vanilla beans. These cask variants will be available for one day only so keep an eye on their Instagram for release days.
Now offering 473ml singles (tall cans) of all their beers with in-house designed labels, Alchemy Brewing Co. is welcoming winter with several new sippers. Marz Bar (6.8% ABV, 18 IBU), a Marzen Lager loaded with chocolate flavour, will be their first winter release, followed by the return of seasonal favourites such as the Sugarbush Red Maple Ale (6% ABV, 24 IBU) and Gingerbread Man winter ale (5.8%, IBU 25). Coming soon is a yet-to-be-named brand new winter warmer (6.8%, IBU 18) that will be dark and rich with plum and fig notes and a hint of spice.
Red Collar Brewing Co.
Made in collaboration with the Kamloops SPCA to celebrate Red Collar Brewing’s sixth anniversary, Diana Baltic Porter (8.7% ABV, 25 IBU) is named after resident good girl Diana, the Black Lab. Just like the rescue pup, this traditional Baltic Porter is dark, luscious, and with notes of coffee and chocolate, this full-bodied brew will have you “rolling over and begging for more”. Staff favourite Piston 42 Black IPA (5.7% ABV, 55 IBU) is a dark ale that returns early December with a style born in the Pacific Northwest that combines citrus, pine, and spice aromas of American hops with rugged roast malt flavours. Coming soon is the brand new Kraanbere Cranberry Saison (6.8% ABV, 8 IBU), which is a smooth, highly carbonated ale fermented with cranberries and a French saison yeast to create a lightly spiced and deliciously fruity seasonal brew. Visit their Instagram page for more December releases including a Marzen Lager, Doppelback Dark Lager, and No Fun Frank's Tripel.
