The iconic Kamloops Bike Ranch continues to dominate riding in the Kamloops area, with 26 hectares of free-to-use trails, berms, and technical features. As the largest municipal bike park in North America, the trails at the Bike Ranch have been carefully designed for skill development, from first runs to epic hang time.
You’ll find the Jump Corral at the bottom, and the new All-Wheels Pump Track at the top (near the washrooms!). Shuttle services are often available for a small fee, or earn your vert on the bi-directional XC trail. The Kamloops Bike Ranch is well worth the trip.

Kenna Cartwright Nature Park
Rolling through the sagebrush around Mt. Dufferin, Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is home to over 55 km of multi-use x-country biking trails. This extensive park overlooks the whole city, making for some truly glorious sunset rides – with trail dogs welcome! You won’t find any extreme features or overly steep terrain in Kenna, just plenty of fun, mellow trails to explore at your own pace. Washrooms and a bike repair station can be found at the Tower Trail entrance.
Got little rippers in tow? The KBRA Kids Zone is near Kenna Cartwright, just above the Dufferin Elementary School. With shorter segments, this loop allows kids to whoop it up while building confidence.

Sun Peaks Mountain Resort
Sun Peaks Resort offers lift access to an extensive, multi-mountain network of bike trails. You’ll discover an epic range of flowy freeride runs, techy challenges, and plenty of big air. Sun Peaks is often cooler than Kamloops, making this a great destination for those killer hot summer days. The mountain village offers a range of accommodations and restaurant options so you can rest and refuel.
A newer, pedal-access trail system through the cedars of Mt. Morrisey offers free-to-use riding through this gorgeous corner of BC. Pro-tip: stop by Heffley Lake on your way back to Kamloops for a post-ride swim!

Batchelor Heights

Lac du Bois Grasslands
On your way to the Lac du Bois Grasslands, you’ll pass through the Batchelor Heights neighbourhood – and some incredible riding. Trails through “Batch” feature open sightlines through the bunchgrass hills under seemingly endless skies. This area is perfect for early spring riding, as the south-facing slopes dry quickly. These trails are largely shade-free, so pack water and take breaks as the temperature rises.

Other riding areas
Harper Mountain offers a technical playground for downhill mountain bike riders in the pines north of town. This trail network promises more shade, and Paul Lake is at the bottom for a quick after-ride swim. Shuttles are often available here.
The Pineview Valley Recreational Trails offer extensive multi-use trails for cross-country riding. With plenty of shadier forests, Pineview is a great option on hot days. Trailheads and parking are found at the end of Hugh Allen Drive, off Lac le Jeune Road, and near Iron Mask Hill.

Get ready to shred
Nothing ruins a great day on the trails like a mishap that gets out of hand. Showing up prepared goes a long way towards ensuring a truly epic day on the trails. Here’s what you need to know:
Check yourself
Don’t wreck yourself – checking your mountain bike before you ride can head off problems before they start, so take the time to inspect and tune up your machine. If in doubt, one of our awesome bike shops can help you out:
- Spoke n’ Motion – from single adjustments to a full overhaul, Spoke has your back. Be sure to book your service ahead of time and rinse off your last ride before drop-off!
- Bicycle Cafe – with options from safety checks to custom services, the Bicycle Cafe’s factory-trained bike mechanics will have your baby rolling like a dream.
- District Bicycle Company – services include suspension tuning, wheel truing, and much more. Book your services ahead of time to be mountain bike trail-ready.
Do we even need to say it? Friends make friends wear helmets! Other safety wear can take the sting out of road rash and other injuries, and a first-aid kit is always a great idea. Don't let injuries cut your trip short.

Beat the heat
Long sunny days are our region’s claim to fame but don’t take chances with heat stroke. There’s nothing worse than missing days 2-3 of a multi-day riding trip because day 1 knocked you out. Pack plenty of water, take breaks when needed, and move your rides to the morning or evening to enjoy cooler temperatures. Even if you’re coated in mud and dust at the end of the day, sunscreen is worthwhile.
Find some of our favourite swimming spots for an after-ride plunge, and stay cool out there!
Other tips
The grasslands of BC are a diverse ecosystem and open range, so give wildlife – and cattle! – their space. Stick to the designated trails and help protect these areas for future riders.
Our region is also home to ticks, so pack your favourite bug spray and check yourself after a ride. Yes, they’re gross, but take a moment to learn how to remove a tick safely and avoid infection.
