6th Annual Sun Peaks Film Festival

Now in its 6th year, the Sun Peaks Film Festival returns with three evenings of inspiring cinema, community celebration, and mountain-culture storytelling. This year’s festival features a curated selection of films from the VIMFF World Tour, bringing world-class adventure and outdoor filmmaking to the heart of Sun Peaks. Thursday night special guests include Sun Peaks Fire and Rescue, Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society, and Kamloops Search and Rescue members. This evening will include the film “109 Below” and 6 other VIMFF Films.

Friday night special guests include members of Sun Peaks Dance Academy. Friday’s films will include an incredible film “Wild Aerial” that will be of particular interest and inspiration to the local dancers. There will also be 6 other films (different from Thursday night) from VIMFF.

A signature highlight of the festival is Local Filmmakers Film Night, showcasing the creativity and talent within our very own region. Saturday evening includes the ever-popular Local Filmmakers Contest, proudly sponsored by McSporties and the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission, where emerging and grassroots creators share their unique stories on the big screen.

The festival culminates Saturday night with a lively afterparty, bringing filmmakers, community members, sponsors, and festivalgoers together to celebrate the contest winners and the spirit of filmmaking in Sun Peaks.
