The Colourful Mind of Ted Smith - The Kamloops Film Society

Discover the life and artistic legacy of beloved Kamloops painter Ted Smith (1933–2016) at this free Culture Days event at the Paramount Theatre.

The afternoon begins with a 30-minute documentary exploring Smith’s life and work. Known for his vibrant, abstract landscapes inspired by the Thompson-Nicola region, Smith captured the places around him through bold colour, shape, and lyrical abstraction.

Following the screening, director Christo Vutev and producer Annette Dominik will take part in a conversation about Smith’s work and lasting contribution to the local arts community. A selection of his original paintings will also be on display and available for purchase in the theatre lobby, with proceeds supporting the Kamloops Art Gallery.

Doors open at 1:30 pm, with the screening beginning at 2:00 pm. Admission is free as part of the Kamloops Film Society’s Culture Days programming.
