The Laramie Project - TRU Actors Workshop Theatre

February 26 - 28 & March 5 - 7, 2026

In 1998, a 21-year-old gay man was kidnapped, beaten, and left tied to a fence outside Laramie, Wyoming. He died several days later, and his name was Matthew Shepard. In the aftermath, members of the Tectonic Theater Project conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of Laramie, and from those interviews constructed this play.

25 years after its premiere, this play is still painfully relevant as it explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.

Warning: This production explores themes which some audience members may find triggering, including homophobia, mature language, hate speech and hate crime, prejudice and intolerance, death, and violence. Recommended for ages 14 and older.
