Breweries, Cideries + Distilleries

The Kamloops craft beer scene is small but it packs a punch. With five micro-breweries in town, it’s that much easier to check them all off your list, and maybe even double back to your favourites! Why not, eh? After you drink (and eat) your way through our five micro-breweries, stop by one of the local cideries or distilleries for a sip of something with more heat than the August sun.

BREWERIES

Iron Road Brewing

980 Camosun Crescent

What happens when two geologists with a passion for great beer get together? Iron Road Brewing. And we couldn’t be happier! This award-winning brewery crafts delicious, balanced beer that locals love, and the menu makes it feel like Taco Tuesday seven days a week. Stop by the family-friendly taproom for a pint and some live music, and check out the brewing process up close and personal. And don’t forget to try a churro! You won’t be disappointed.

Bright Eye Brewing

292 Tranquille Road

Come for the brunch, stay for the beer! Bright Eye Brewing is the first craft brewery on the North Shore that brews an ever-changing variety of innovative beers (Strawberry Pineapple Sour? Yes, please!) served right from the tanks they were made in. Not around for brunch? Fill up on the locals' favourite Crispy Brussel Sprouts. And a pint or two, naturally.

Noble Pig Brewhouse

650 Victoria Street

Instead of soaking up the sun (and a beer) poolside “jump” right in - the patio at Noble Pig is in a converted swimming pool. Intrigued!? Wait until you taste the beer. Kamloops’ first microbrewery offers house-made craft beer and a unique beer fusion cuisine cooked fresh in their from-scratch kitchen. Enjoy a solid selection of go-to Noble Brews, or check out the rotation of seasonal and specialty beers.

Alchemy Brewing

650 Victoria Street

Alchemy is the process of taking something ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary, and Alchemy Brewing Company does just that. Inspired by the concept of blending flavour and passion, Alchemy marries unique craft beers with amazing from-scratch food. They push the boundaries of flavour and fun, and have an eclectic food menu to pair perfectly with what’s on tap. And those disco fries? Extraordinary, indeed.

Red Collar Brewing Co.

355 Lansdowne Street

You get a two for one deal at Red Collar Brewing since it’s also the home of Gin Lane Distillery. Named after the red collar their late labrador Goosey always wore, Red Collar Brewing creates European-influenced brews and has a food menu designed to be shared. If it wasn’t clear in the name, the taproom is open to fur and human children as long as they’re accompanied by an adult.

Cideries

Woodward Cider Co.

5505 Westsyde Road

After becoming engineers, the Woodward brothers decided, “nah!” and returned to the family farm to start Kamloops' first craft cidery. Woodward Cider Co.’s small-batch ciders are engineered (teehee) to perfection using only BC apples. Only 20 km from town, the tasting room sits adjacent to the orchard and offers fun for the whole family. Kick back and relax with a flight or challenge your family to a game of cornhole. Furry friends are welcome.

Left Field Cider Co.

Hwy 97C between Merritt & Logan Lake

After giving DIY cidermaking a go, Kate Garthwaite decided she couldn’t bear to pour another batch-gone-wrong down the drain and decided to learn everything she could about cidermaking from the best of the best. Fast forward to today and you have Left Field Cider, a family-owned company run by Kate and her sister, Theresa. Located on their family ranch north of Merritt, Left Field Cider handcrafts artisanal English-style cider by blending English and French cider varieties with BC dessert apples. Ooo la la!

Distilleries

Red Bridge Distilling

11 - 1445 McGill Road

As iconic as the truss road bridge it’s named after, Red Bridge Distilling is a small batch distillery that produces a variety of Gin and Vodkas from Devil’s Flower Garden Gin to Cold Brew Coffee Vodka. Good morning! Stop by and try before you buy.

Gin Lane Distilling Co.

355 Lansdowne Street

Where beer drinkers and gin drinkers go for a first date. Gin Lane is located at Red Collar Brewing so along with a fun selection of delicious cocktails with names like Habanero Gin Daisy, you can also enjoy a pint or two.

Route 1 Distillery

Private Tours Available

As iconic as the highway itself, Route 1 Distillery was built on its love for the country and the desire to bottle the Canadian spirit. Fuelled by double doubles and Timbits, they use a triple distillation process through a 20 plate still resulting in spirits that taste as fresh as the river water in December. Just kidding, don’t drink the river water. Currently only available in select Kamloops liquor stores. Sorry!
