Press Release - Tourism Kamloops Wins National Award for Kamloops Christmas Market Campaign
Tourism Kamloops wins EDAC’s Tourism Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for its 2025 Kamloops Christmas Market campaign.
For Immediate Release
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Tourism Kamloops has been recognized nationally by the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC), receiving the Tourism Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for its work promoting the inaugural Kamloops Christmas Market in 2025.
The award recognizes excellence in marketing a destination to external visitors, with an emphasis on measurable tourism impact, creative multi-channel marketing and the ability to translate marketing investment into visitation and economic activity.
The award-winning campaign supported the launch of the first Kamloops Christmas Market, which welcomed more than 23,000 attendees over its 10-day run and created a new late-fall attraction for residents and visitors.
While Tourism Kamloops led the destination marketing campaign, the organization credits the success of the initiative to the extensive collaboration that brought the Christmas Market itself to life.
“This award may recognize the marketing campaign, but we had something incredible to market because of the work of our partners,” said Erik Fisher, CEO of Tourism Kamloops. “The City of Kamloops, Kamloops Sports Council, Downtown Kamloops, BCLC, Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation put tremendous energy into creating an event that gave people a new reason to visit, stay, explore and spend time in our community. This recognition belongs to that entire partnership.”
Tourism Kamloops developed and delivered a multi-channel campaign designed to build awareness of the new event beyond the local market and position the Christmas Market as a reason to visit Kamloops during the late-fall travel season. The campaign leveraged digital advertising, social media, video and destination storytelling to connect the event with the broader Kamloops visitor experience.
The initiative also demonstrated the role events can play in destination development. By creating compelling experiences during traditionally quieter travel periods, events can support accommodations, restaurants, retailers and attractions while creating new experiences that residents can enjoy in their own community.
The Kamloops Christmas Market was delivered through collaboration between the City of Kamloops, Kamloops Sports Council, Downtown Kamloops, BCLC, Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc, Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Kamloops, alongside participating vendors, businesses, sponsors and community partners.
The EDAC Awards celebrate economic development strategies, partnerships and initiatives from communities across Canada.
