For Immediate Release
Kamloops, April 1, 2022, Kamloops, British Columbia – This is no April Fools joke. After countless hours designing graphics, team meetings sampling brine varietals, and infusing the love of dill into 10 open-minded restaurants, Tourism Kamloops is excited to announce an exclusive, Kamloops-only campaign, the Pickle Pursuit.
From pickled pannenkoek at Amsterdam Restaurant to cucumber dill gin fizzes at Mason’s Kitchen & Bar, the Pickle Pursuit is a city-wide food tour for pickle lovers from April 1 to May 31, 2022.
“Kickstarting our visitor economy is top priority and the launch of the Pickle Pursuit is a quirky campaign to help our visitors and residents explore our city like never before notes Monica Dickinson, Tourism Kamloops’ CEO. “It’s been a difficult couple of years and this campaign highlights our restaurant partners in a bold and unscripted way. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good pickle!”
How It Works
- Sign up for free, download the app at https://www.tourismkamloops.com/pickle-pursuit/ and save to your mobile device
- Order pickle exclusive items from the participating establishments and collect a custom pickle sticker at each location
- The first 100 people who complete the Pickle Pursuit by May 31, 2022 will receive an exclusive ‘I got pickled in Kamloops’ t-shirt
At each location, Pickle Pursuit enthusiasts will find custom stickers that are exclusive to the campaign and feature personified pickles sipping wine (“feeling brined”, exclusive to Cordo Resto + Bar), golfing (“gherkin on my swing”, exclusive to Black Iron Grill at Tobiano), and eight other tongue-in-cheek designs. Winners’-shirts are a new collaboration with Bigfoot Trading Co., a retailer in the Aberdeen Mall.
In relation to pandemic recovery efforts Dickinson adds, “Our goal is to get visitors back to Kamloops while supporting and energizing our stakeholders through innovative means. This two-month pickle celebration is our way of getting creative, being a bit weird, and showing visitors that Kamloops is a unique destination that will keep you coming back.”
The Pickle Pursuit runs from April 1 to May 31, 2022, at 10 local restaurants across Kamloops. For a list of restaurants and menu items, visit https://www.tourismkamloops.com/pickle-pursuit/.
