Welcome Carmen Herman: Tourism Kamloops' New Director, Brand and Marketing
Tourism Kamloops is thrilled to welcome Carmen Herman as our new Director, Brand and Marketing.
With a career built on community connection and collaborative leadership, Carmen brings a fresh perspective and a deep appreciation for what makes destinations thrive. Her approach? Translating big-picture strategy into practical, actionable steps and connecting the dots between partners, ideas, and resources to turn vision into reality.
"I love Tourism Kamloops' strong reputation as a forward-thinking and collaborative team," Carmen says. "I'm looking forward to helping elevate our destination's brand, tell authentic stories, and support partners in showcasing what makes Kamloops such a compelling place to visit, live, and invest in."
It didn't take long for Kamloops to make an impression. Carmen was drawn to the landscape almost immediately: the hoodoos, the rolling hills, and the ease of finding a trail to explore.
"There's a sense of space here that makes it easy to get outside, clear your head, and feel connected," she says.
When Carmen’s not working, you'll likely find her camping with friends and family, pulling their little tent trailer to new corners of BC. And when visitors come to town? Her recommendation is simple: start outside on a trail or by the river, then spend the rest of the day eating and discovering local spots together.
Travel has always shaped Carmen's worldview. Visits to Poland and Slovakia, where her parents are from, feel like a "connection reset," she says, filled with village exploration, incredible food, and a deep appreciation for history and architecture.
A competitive swimmer and dedicated black-coffee drinker, Carmen describes her career journey in three words: community-focused, collaborative, and purpose-driven.
As she settles into her new role, Carmen is most excited about building relationships.
"I'm excited to listen, build trust, and help share the stories that make this a great destination," she says.
