Freeride Lives Here
Kamloops, British Columbia. A town steeped in mountain bike lore, and revered by avid riders across the globe as the birthplace of freeride mountain biking.
From iconic trail builds to groundbreaking film parts, Kamloops has served as a proving ground for freeride pioneers and all who follow in their tire tracks. Home to many of the sport’s most progressive athletes, content creators, trail builders, and entrepreneurs, freeride culture in Kamloops has evolved over the years to encompass much more than the steeps, drops and jump lines of its origins.

Yet we’re all unified by a common bond in our love of the freedom, adventure and connection—to a place, and to each other—that mountain biking brings.
Ultimately, it’s the freedom to ride your bike however makes you happy. And for us, that’s what we call freeride.

Tourism Kamloops Freeride Fund
'Cuz Freeride Ain't FreeAt Tourism Kamloops we hold a great deal of gratitude for the bike community that works tirelessly behind the scenes, often unrecognized and under-resourced, to maintain the mountain bike infrastructure that keeps the birthplace of freeride on the forefront of progression in the sport.
That's why we're pleased to announce the Tourism Kamloops Freeride Fund initiative.
Starting with a $50,000 seed donation from Tourism Kamloops, and supported by donations from local businesses and visiting riders, the Freeride Fund is our way of giving back to the trails.

Sun Peaks Bike Park
Iconic DH meets Newschool FlowA favourite on the BC bike park circuit, Sun Peaks features 83km of lift-accessed, machine-made goodness with great dirt and exquisite technical design, just 45 minutes from town.
Inspired by the freeride scene in Kamloops, Sun Peaks has long been known for steep, raw singletrack and big hits. While you'll still find plenty of opportunities to get rowdy, with iconic tech lines like Insanity One, Gnar-Boom and Smitty’s Steeps, the park has made major investments in newschool flow and jump lines built for progression, with trails and features for every rider, from first timers to pros.

Trails for Freeriders-in-TrainingHead out on the Kamloops bike trails and you’ll find a host of little rippers with their parents in tow. There are a number of family-friendly trail areas, including KBRA Progression Zone at Dufferin Park and Lac du Bois area, or “Batch” as the locals call it. The KBRA kids league introduces kids aged 7-13 to the joys of biking and helps them progress along the way. Let’s face it: after a certain point, the kiddos can beat us down just about anything.
