Unexpected Adventures In 7 Days

From hiking to wineries, breweries, and outdoor adventure, there are plenty of things to do in Kamloops and the Cariboo Chilcotin Valley in 7 days. Let us tell you!

Day One

Check into your hotel of choice and set about exploring your surroundings with a self-guided tour of the downtown core. Choose from: Downtown Heritage Walk, Back Alley Art Gallery, or Public Art Walk.

Did you know that Kamloops has 5 breweries? Go on a self-guided craft beer crawl and see them all! Sip an IPA or lager paired with a winter root veggie taco at Iron Road Brewing, some deep fried pickles at The Noble Pig Brewhouse, a plate of nachos at Red Collar Brewing Co., a smoked meat sandwich at Alchemy Brewing Company, or the crispy brussels sprouts paired with one of their unique innovative bears at Bright Eye Brewing.

*Remember to drink responsibly

Day Two

Fuel up for the day with green eggs and ham from local hotspot Hello Toast before taking to the hills. Join Moccasin Trails for a guided walk in the land of the Shuswap peoples to view Balancing Rock and hear the story of how Coyote was transformed.

Spend the afternoon out on the water at Bruker Marina & Beach Club on Kamloops Lake. Choose from a wide variety of rental options or soak up some rays on their licensed, private beach.

For dinner, make your way to Maurya's Rest. Bar. Banquet, Kamloops' first East Indian craft cocktail bar. Pro tip: ask them which beverages include locally distilled spirits for an extra twist.

Day Three

Indulge in a home-cooked Blackstone Benny at Passek's Classics Cafe. Grab your mountain biking gear or best set of hikers as you explore the extensive trail network of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands. On your way back to town, visit Red Beard Cafe on the The North Shore for a Grilled Three Cheese sandwich.

Explore the Kamloops Wine Trail either on a self-guided excursion or book a guided experience with one of our tour operators. Pro tip: Privato Vineyard & Winery is also home to Kamloops' first cidery, Woodward Cider Co.

Finish off your day with a view of one of Kamloops' legendary sunsets from the patio of Masons Kitchen & Bar.

Day Four

It's time to hit the highway. Get an early start with a coffee and breakfast to-go at Caffe Motivo.

Break up today's drive with a stop at the South Cariboo Visitor Centre, and lunch at The Historic Chilcotin Lodge. Your end destination for the day is the Red Cariboo Resort.

Day Five

Spend your morning on the pristine, tranquil waters of Anahim Lake in a canoe or kayak. Afterwards, leave for nearby Tweedsmuir Park Lodge for lunch and then on to your overnight accommodation at Bella Coola Grizzly Tours... and a grizzly tour!

Day Six

Hold onto your hat and be amazed with a day out on the water as you enjoy a full day excursion with Bella Coola Grizzly Tours on their Glacial Fjord & Hot Springs Tour. Their 42ft twin diesel jet boat takes you out on a 50 nautical mile marine excursion showcasing wildlife, hot springs, glaciers, and Indigenous pictographs.

Day Seven

Today you are making your way back to Kamloops through the Redstone Valley. Break up your day's drive with stops at KiNiKiNik Restaurant, Store & Accommodation for a delicious pasture to plate lunch and a sweet treat at The Sugar Shack before checking into your chosen accommodation in Kamloops for the evening.
