Boating

We know you’ve driven by Kamloops and seen all that water! In Kamloops, there are boating, paddling and beach opportunities galore. Kamloops Lake is waiting for you to discover its incredible water and hoodoos backdrop. Hit the water in a motorized rental from Bruker Marina at Tobiano or enjoy the serenity aboard a kayak or pedal boat on the South Thompson River. After a day out on the water, wind down by having a waterfront picnic.

Fishing

Did you know Kamloops is famous for its rainbow trout? It’s the perfect excuse to try fishing for the first time – or to go chase the perfect catch. Kamloops offers incredible fishing experiences in all four seasons. We have some of the best lake fishing found anywhere in North America. There are 100+ highly productive lakes within a one-hour drive of the city that are stocked year-round. From grasslands to forested lakes, Kamloops' diverse landscape is suited for all anglers.

Climbing

You can take things to a whole new level in Kamloops. The region is home to many great climbs that offer varying degrees of difficulty - and by climbing you’ll get to view Kamloops from an entirely different elevation.

Kamloops has some great outdoor climbing. The Beach is one of the more popular climbs at Kamloops Lake as well as Roche Lake, Prickly Pear, Oregon Jack, Hen House to name a few. Our indoor climbing is also spectacular with challenging routes for every type of climber.

Hiking

Kamloops has hiking trails for all levels of experience – and the kid-friendly hikes offered in this region means the whole family can put down their devices and take in our amazing views and landscapes. There are incredible trails accessible in the city, around the city, and within a short drive from Kamloops too. Enjoy a 3.7km hike at Paul Lake Provincial Park, beginning from the boat launch to Gibraltar Rock where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views of Paul Lake. Best part is you can jump in the lake after to cool off. Stake Lake has an easier 2.5km loop that takes you through lush greenery during the summer months. Finally, visit McConnell Lake for a 4km loop with rewarding views; all that you can enjoy with your best fur friend!

Sun Peaks Resort

Did you know that Canada’s second largest ski resort is only 45 minutes from Kamloops? Sun Peaks Resort’s chairlift is running for their summer season, giving you access to their bike park and hiking through their Alpine wildflowers. In the warmer months you can also explore their other outdoor activities such as horseback riding, golf, mountain cross carts and off-road Segway tours.

And in the winter – you have kilometers full of epic powder to explore, conquer, and navigate. From downhill skiing and boarding to dog sledding, cross country, snowshoeing and skating, Sun Peaks has it all for the winter adventurer.
